Faculty of Dentistry

The language of education in our faculty is Turkish.

The education of the Faculty of Dentistry is 5 years (10 semesters) and each semester consists of at least 16 weeks.

In the first two years of the education period, mainly Basic Medical Sciences and in the last three years Clinical Dentistry Sciences are given.

Faculty of Dentistry is located in the Orhanlı / Tuzla Campus.

Our faculty students can primarily benefit from the library in Orhanlı Campus. Apart from this, Istanbul Medeniyet University Ziraat Bank Library Building will be offered to all our students in Göztepe Campus. In our libraries, all the facilities required by modern librarianship serve our students and academic staff through books, magazines, electronic publications and online databases. It is possible to reach these databases from inside or outside of the campus (DeepKnowledge Portal).

According to Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Dentistry Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation, 80% of theoretical courses, practices, internships and laboratory studies are required.

In the "World's Most Influential Scientists" article prepared by a team of American and Dutch scientists led by Stanford University and published in the journal "PLOS Biology", our assoc. professor Taha Özyürek, who works at our faculty, is included among 161.441 scientists.

17 clinics (20 dental units in total), 2 general anesthesia operating theaters (2 dental units), 1 disabled clinic (1 unit), 1 panoramic x-ray machine, 2 periapical x-ray devices in Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Dentistry, It is ready to serve students with 1 conical-beam computed tomography device, 1 preclinical laboratory, 1 phantom simulation laboratory, 1 central sterilization unit, 1 prosthesis laboratory, seminar and conference hall, dining hall, 2 classrooms (70 people).

Since it is a new faculty, Dentistry Specialization (DUS) Education is currently being given in a single department. It is planned to provide postgraduate education in the following periods in all other departments.

There are many private dormitories close to Orhanlı Campus where our faculty is located.

Horizontal and vertical transfer is possible if they meet the ÖSYM score and school grade point average.

Some courses are semesters in terms of their features. Clinical science courses are annual. Lessons; There are two types of compulsory and common compulsory courses. Class pass system is applied in the Faculty of Dentistry. Except for the common compulsory courses, students who fail any course cannot advance to the next class.

Practices related to dental clinical courses; Clinical observation in the 3rd grade and internship practices in the 4th and 5th grades. Clinical observer students practice alternately in the clinics and / or laboratories of the respective departments.

 If the exam you cannot take is a midterm, you must document your excuse and apply to the faculty secretaria with a petition. Midterm exams make up 40% of the year-end grade, and final exams comprise 60%

It is compulsory to take 60 out of 100 in the faculty at the end of the semester / year, make-up, internship and single course exams.

Exams in the faculty of dentistry can be done in the form of theoretical (written / oral) and applied, laboratory or clinical practice.

Students who fail to repeat the internship in the 4th and 5th grades can take the clinical internships they have failed between the dates specified in the Academic Calendar and according to the program to be determined by the Education Coordinator, until the new academic year begins, after the make-up exams of the current academic year.

In order to take the final exam; completing clinical applications during the clinical internship, continuing 80% of the applications, and it is necessary to give a seminar on the subject determined by the department. Students who cannot fulfill these conditions repeats. Students who fulfill the conditions are taken to the practice exam. Students who pass the applied exam take the theoretical exam. Students who fail the theoretical exam are entitled to make-up exams, without prejudice to their success in the practical exam.
